Skin-to-Skin Sessions are created for mothers who want to preserve what this season actually feels like. Not the polished version of motherhood, but the warm, breath-close, slightly wild closeness that happens when your child crawls into your lap without asking.
These sessions are photographed entirely on medium format film, allowing skin, light, and texture to live honestly in every frame. Whether in your home or in quiet natural light outdoors in Durham or the surrounding North Carolina landscape, the focus is connection. The weight of your child against you. The way their head tucks into your chest. The fleeting, instinctive knowing that this stage will not last forever.
These sessions are inclusive of maternity and newborn seasons, while also honoring motherhood at every age. Whether you are carrying life, cradling a brand-new baby, or holding a child who is suddenly too long for your lap, this work is about closeness and continuity. Working with me in this space is gentle and intuitive.
As a mother and labor and delivery nurse, I am comfortable in intimate moments and deeply attuned to body language. I do not force children to perform or hold unnatural poses. We let them move. We let them cling, squirm, laugh, and settle where they feel safe. Privacy is of utmost importance to me, and you have full control over how your images are shared. These sessions are created first and foremost for you.
Each Skin-to-Skin Session includes 4 rolls of medium format film, resulting in approximately 20–40 web-size images delivered through a private online gallery and cinematic slideshow. You’ll also have access to a curated online store where you can purchase heirloom wall art, fine art albums, and specialty pieces designed to be treasured for years to come.
These are not simply photographs. They are tangible memories of the warmth, the wildness, and the closeness you will one day ache to remember.
